Knowledge and Skills
The K&S Grade is comprised of the following:
Concerts
Student must arrive on time for the concert, perform the music to the best of his/her ability, and demonstrate good concert etiquette. Please see the Monona Grove Concert Attendance Policy and important 7th-grade band dates on the reverse of this sheet.
Prepared Playing Tests and Sight-reading Tests
Student will test by performing a number of songs each quarter.
Practice Log
Practice is a life-long skill necessary for improvement. Students will learn how to practice effectively by learning to isolate mistakes, practice individual measures or groups of notes, and then integrate the difficult section into the rest of the music. Students are expected to practice at home 60 minutes each week, to write down the practice time, and to get a parent signature on the practice log once a week.
GIG Teacher’s Evaluation Grade
GIG teachers will evaluate each student’s individual progress based upon the student’s performance in GIGs.
In-Class Assignments
Students will occasionally do in-class assignments including, but not limited to Concert Reflections and/or quizzes.
